An Archive Profile lists the On-Premise Appliance settings included in a manual or scheduled Settings Archive. This article explains how to schedule Settings Archives and save the files to your On-Premise Appliance for you to download. You can use Settings Archives to restore your appliance settings to an earlier configuration.
Add the schedule
- Add an Archive Profile to determine your settings.
- Go to System > Maintenance > Scheduler.
- In the Backup schedule section, select the day of the week the task runs on from the Day dropdown.
- Select the hour the task runs on from the Hour dropdown. You can’t schedule to the minute.
- On the System > Maintenance > Archives page, select how often to delete archives using the Prune archives dropdown.
- The default and recommended setting is Over 3 months.
- You can change it to Over 2 months or Don’t prune.
- Select Save.

2: Configure your protocol
You can save your Settings Archives using the SCP protocol or the SMB protocol.
Go to System > Maintenance > Archives.
SCP protocol
- Go to the Remote SCP destinations section.
- Select Export Public Backup Key.
- Install the public key on the remote SSH server. For details on how to do this, refer to the SSH server administrator's guide.
- Enter a name for the destination.
- Enter the Username of the account you use on the SSH server.
Tip
Only give the user write access to the specified remote path.
- Enter the Remote path where you will store archives on the remote server, for example: /home/mypath/
- In the Server field, enter the IP address of the SSH Server.
- Enter the Port number used to connect to the SSH server (usually port 22).
- From the Transfer speed limit dropdown, select the maximum transfer speed for automatic archiving. This prevents automatic archiving from adversely affecting the performance of another network's traffic. Select from Unlimited, 10Kb/s, 20Kb/s, 30Kb/s or 100Kb/s.
- (Optional) Enter a comment.
- Select Add.
SMB protocol
- Go to the Remote Windows/SMB destinations section.
- Enter a name for the destination.
- Enter the Username and Password for the server account.
Tip
Only give the user who is a member of the Administrators group on the destination server write access to the specified remote path.
- Enter the Server and share name of the network and network share folder where you want to save the Settings Archive file, for example: \\10.0.11.134\Example_content_share
- Enter the Remote path where archives will be stored on the remote server, for example: \Name_share
- (Optional) Enter a comment.
- Select Add.
3: Add the schedule
- Go to the Remote archival section.
- Select the day of the week the archive should run from the Day dropdown.
- Select the hour the archive runs from the Hour dropdown. You can’t schedule to the minute.
- Select a destination from the Archive destination dropdown, as configured in the Remote SCP destinations or Remote Windows/SMB destinations section.
- Select an Archive Profile from the Archive profile dropdown.
- Select the Enabled checkbox.
- (Optional) Enter a comment.
- Select Add.
