This article applies to our On-Premise Appliance Filter and Firewall product only, not to Cloud.
You can use Archive profiles to create reusable sets of backup configurations, and use them to run manual or scheduled backups. An Archive profile is a list of settings and log files you can choose to include in a backup of your Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance’s settings. You can have up to 20 Archive profiles at once.
Create an Archive profile of your On-Premise Appliance settings
- Go to System > Maintenance > Archives.
- Move down to the Settings section.
- Select an Empty slot from the Profile drop-down.
- Enter a Profile name.
- Ensure the Automatic backup checkbox is ticked if you want to generate backups on a schedule. Whether you tick or untick the box has has no effect if you will be creating backups manually, but changing this setup will affect any of your existing scheduled backups.
- Enter a comment if needed to help distinguish your different profiles.
- Select the checkboxes next to the settings you want to back up, or select the All checkbox at the top of the table.
Tip: Selecting a setting with an icon will share it with child nodes under Central Management.
- The Logs section lists all the services the squid service generates if it encounters an error. Note that don’t include logs generated by the service for firewall or web proxy access, or user browsing data. Select the checkboxes next to the log types you want to back up, or select the All checkbox at the top of the table.
- Select either:
- Save: save the profile to be used to create a backup later.
- Save and backup: save the profile and generate a backup.
Edit an Archive profile
- Go to System > Maintenance > Archives.
- Move down to the Settings section.
- Select the Archive profile from Profile drop-down.
- Make any changes as needed. For example, if you change whether the Automatic backup checkbox is ticked, this will affect any of your existing scheduled backups.
- Move to the bottom of the page and select Save.
Delete an Archive profile
You can’t delete existing Archive profiles.
If you have reached the maximum number of 20 Archive profiles, you will need to edit an existing Archive profile to suit your needs.
