This article only contains guidance on how to deploy the Smoothwall Chrome extension to your Chromebooks. It is not a replacement for Google's online help on how to use their services: Set Chrome policies for users or browsers.
You need to install the Smoothwall Chrome extension on all your students' devices. You should do this per user, not per device. Please use Google's online help to navigate their Admin Console and use this article for the settings that you need to configure.
Prerequisites- Your UNCL serial number, from the email that Smoothwall sent you after your purchase. Note that this is different from your Smoothwall appliance serial.
- The Tenant ID of the tenant that you want to install for.
Procedure
Note: Cloud Filter devices should not be configured to use a proxy.
- Sign in to Google with your administrator account and configure these settings, see Google's help topic, Make settings in your Admin console:

Security:
- Incognito mode: "Disallow incognito mode"

Sign-in settings:
- Browser sign-in settings - "Disable browser sign-in" (alternatively, you can allow sign-in restricted to your domain only)

User experience:
- Developer tools - "Never allow use of built-in developer tools"
- Add profiles - "Disable adding new profiles"

Apps and extensions:
- Task manager - "Block users from ending processes with the Chrome task manager"

Follow-up tasks
- Check that the extension has been installed on your Chromebooks by logging in as a user that belongs to the organizational unit that you just installed the extension on. Sometimes it might take up to 30 minutes to be installed on the Chrome browser on the Chromebook.
- The Smoothwall Chrome extension icon should appear in your Chrome browser next to the URL address.
- Also, go to chrome://extensions/ within the Chrome browser, and check that the extension appears there.
- If you have the AdBlock extension installed, you need to disable this before you navigate to the Smoothwall Administration Portal (portal.smoothwall.cloud).
