This article applies to organisations with a 'Hybrid' setup (both On-Premise Appliance and Cloud), as well as On-Premise only and Cloud only setups.
When you raise a ticket with our Support team, we may ask you for a Serial Number to help verify your identity. This article outlines what each ID Number is, as well as how to find it.
Serial Numbers
Unified Client Serial Number (UNCL)
Your Unified Client Serial Number, also referred to as the UNCL, is the unique identifier for the organisation (individual organisation or school, MAT or LA) that manages your Smoothwall setup.
The UNCL is required when setting up or provisioning many things related to Smoothwall, such as when using the Cloud Filter Extension on Windows.
- Sign in to Cloud.
- Go to Home > Admin Panel > Account Information.
On-Premise Appliance Hardware Serial Number
The Appliance Hardware Serial Number is an identifier for your physical Smoothwall devices, and can be found on your physical Smoothwall device.
On-Premise Appliance Software Serial Number
The Appliance Software Serial Number is the licence key for your setup or cluster of Smoothwalls.
- Sign in to the On-Premise Appliance.
- On the dashboard, go to the Support information section.
- You will see your Software Serial Number in the Serial row.
On-Premise Appliance Hardware ID
The Appliance Hardware ID is the unique identifier for this particular hardware installation. If your Smoothwall is rebuilt, you’d get a new Hardware ID for the new build.
- Sign in to the On-Premise Appliance.
- On the dashboard, go to the Support information section.
- You will see your Software Serial Number in the Hardware ID row.
API directory key
The API directory key is sometimes required when installing or deploying companion applications to enable them to communicate with our cloud services. The key is unique to your UNCL.
- Sign in to Cloud.
- Go to Home > Admin Panel > Account Information.
Tenant IDs
Tenant IDs are the unique identifiers for each tenant in your organisation (for example, each School in your MAT).
If you have multiple tenants, the Tenant ID is required when setting up or provisioning many things related to Smoothwall, such as when using the Cloud Filter Extension on Windows.
In Cloud
- Sign in to Cloud.
- Go to Admin Panel > Tenant Management to see a list of tenants, with the Tenant IDs in the UUID column.
Alternatively:
- Go to Admin panel > Account information.
- Select All tenants or Selected tenants.
- Select the Copy icon to copy a list of comma separated tenant IDs to your clipboard.
In On-Premise Appliance
- Sign in to the On-Premise Appliance.
- Go to System > Administration > Tenants.
- Tenant IDs are listed in the UUID column.
