This article applies to our On-Premise Appliance Filter and Firewall product only, not to Cloud.
When your SSL VPN Certificate Authority (CA) or certificate expires, replace it so the SSL VPN client can continue to connect to the Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance.
Tip
Set up an alert to receive a warning when your SSL VPN certificates expire.
Step 1: Turn off SSL VPN
- Go to Network > VPN > Global.
- In the SSL VPN settings section, clear the Enable SSL VPN checkbox.
- Select Save.
- In the banner at the top of the page, select Restart.
- In the Default local Certificate section, set the Certificate dropdown to No certificate.
- Select Save.
- In the banner at the top of the page, select Restart.
Step 2: Delete the expired items
Delete the expired certificate or expired CA.
Step 3: Add a new CA or certificate
- If only the certificate has expired, create a new certificate.
- If the CA has expired, create a new CA, then create a new certificate.
Step 4: Turn SSL VPN back on
- Go to Network > VPN > Global.
- In the Default local Certificate section, set the Certificate dropdown to the new certificate.
- Select Save.
- In the banner at the top of the page, select Restart.
- In the SSL VPN settings section, select the Enable SSL VPN checkbox.
- Select Save.
- In the banner at the top of the page, select Restart.
