A Restore Point is a copy of the System (Root partition) that includes all settings and configuration details for your Smoothwall Appliance at the time it is created.
Add a new Restore Point
The Smoothwall Appliance automatically creates a new System Restore Point when you update it.
To overwrite the existing User Restore Point with a new one:
- Go to System > Maintenance > System restore.
- In the User restore point section, select New restore point.
- Enter a Name.
- Select Save.
Note
- If you can’t create a Restore Point, the System (Root partition) doesn’t have enough space. Contact Smoothwall Support to free up space.
- If assisting you with an issue, Smoothwall Support may create an additional User Restore Point.
Rename or delete Restore Points
You can't rename or delete System Restore Points. The Smoothwall Appliance deletes System Restore Points older than 90 days, except for the most recent one.
For User Restore Points:
- Select Rename, enter a Name and select Save.
- Select Delete, then Confirm.
Revert to a Restore Point
Important
A Restore Point sets all System (Root partition) settings to how they were when the Restore Point was taken. This removes any Settings Archives created between the Restore Point and now, so you may want to download your Settings Archives before restoring.
- Go to System > Maintenance > System restore.
- Select Restore.
- Read the important message, select the checkbox, then select Restore and reboot.
- The Smoothwall Appliance reboots, then returns you to the Admin UI sign-in page. Sign in.
- Ensure your services are working as expected.
- If you have a Hybrid setup , Cloud Filter applies its current settings to your On-Premise Appliance. Check your settings for features that aren’t available or have changed in the update you reverted from.
The Restore Point you restore from remains available for unlimited reuse if needed.
