Configuring antimalware protection

You can set antimalware to scan content and set a maximum size for files to be scanned. The antimalware status page will only appear when antimalware is turned on. The status page might not appear when downloading small files.

Note: To create Antimalware policies, you need a Smoothwall Filter license for the Guardian module.

Procedure

1. On the GUARDIAN menu, under the Antimalware submenu, click Settings.
2. To turn on antimalware scanning, select the Enable option.
3. Enter the Max file size to scan in megabytes. The value can be between 1 megabyte and 1024 megabytes (Mbytes). To download files larger than 1024 megabytes (that is, 1 gigabyte) with malware scanning enabled, you might need to create an antimalware policy that never scans files from these sites. Sites that stream audio / video over HTTP might also experience problems when malware scanning is turned on.
4. Select if you want to "Scan" or "Do not scan" for File uploads.
5. Click Save to apply the malware protection.
