Anti-malware protects against malware threats, including viruses, worms, spyware and trojans by scanning content passing through the Smoothwall Filter. Turn on Anti-malware scanning to apply your Anti-malware policies and set a maximum file size for scanning.
Turn on Anti-malware
- Go to Guardian > Anti-malware > Settings.
Note
If you see a banner that says: ‘Warning Anti-malware is not licenced.’, contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss your requirements.
- For Anti-malware scanning, select Enable. This also allows you to edit the following fields.
- Enter the Max file size to scan in megabytes. The default is 50, or you can amend this to between 1 and 1024 (1 gigabyte). Files larger than the value set will be downloaded without being scanned.
- Select whether to Scan or Do not scan File uploads to upstream servers, such as when uploading a video to YouTube or a file to Google Drive.
Tip
If a scanned file contains Malware, the file won’t be uploaded and the user will see the Block page for On-Premise Appliance with the Reason as Virus or other malware detected.
- Select Save.
