This article provides fixes to common error messages that can show if your deployment of the Smoothwall Browser is incomplete or incorrect. You’ll see the error several times during the first 24 hours after deployment. After that, it will appear at most once per day.
To fix these errors:
- For MDM deployments: Ensure that all fields are correct, then redeploy the Smoothwall Browser.
- For non-MDM deployments: Delete the app from the iPad, reinstall it and reenter provisioning with the correct details.
If you don’t, Smoothwall Browser will not work. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Group-based Web Filter policies won’t be applied.
- Smoothwall can’t log any safeguarding breaches or send Safeguarding Alerts.
- The Real Time Filtering Log Viewer won’t show results because it can’t find the iPad.
- Access logs can’t be generated for the iPad.
Incorrect Smoothwall Configuration
You may see this error message: ’Incorrect/Invalid Smoothwall Configuration: Some configuration information is incorrect. Please contact your administrator.’
You will also see an error code. Find the error code and resolution below.
- 6001: The Tenant ID doesn’t match any tenants associated with your Unified Client Serial Number (UNCL). Either the Tenant ID or UNCL is incorrect.
- 6002: The Tenant ID was left blank, but the Unified Client Serial Number (UNCL) belongs to a multi-tenanted account. Check if the UNCL is correct. If it is, you must add the Tenant ID.
- 6003: A Tenant ID was added, but the Unified Client Serial Number (UNCL) doesn’t belong to a multi-tenanted account. If you are not multi-tenanted, you must leave this field blank.
MDM configuration for this device is invalid
You may see this error message: ‘The Mobile Device Management (MDM) configuration for this device is invalid. Please contact your administrator.’
You have deployed Smoothwall Browser incorrectly using your MDM because you are missing the manual Properties list (plist). You must reinstall the Smoothwall Browser with the plist.
