This article applies to our On-Premise Appliance Filter and Firewall product only, not to Cloud.
This article details how to remove interfaces and IP addresses from interfaces.
Tip
If you need to update IP addresses, see Change IP addresses for an Interface.
Before you begin
Remove or replace IP addresses used in other areas of Smoothwall before deleting an Interface or IP address from an Interface. If you don’t, you’ll see an error message and won’t be able to proceed. The error message will say: ‘There are errors in this form. Please address the following: Unknown or unusable address selected.’
These are some of the most important areas to check, but we recommend inspecting all your systems before making changes:
- Firewall Rules that include the IP address.
- Link Load Balancing pools that include the IP address or interface.
- Source NAT & LLB exception rules for traffic generated by Smoothwall.
- DNS settings that include an IP address or interface.
- Port forwards rules that include the interface.
- Smoothwall access rules that include an IP address or interface.
- (Leeds and prior only) SIP Proxies using the interface.
- (Leeds and prior only) Any IPSec tunnels using the IP address for incoming connections.
- (Leeds and prior only) Bandwidth interface limits.
