Allow access to a game console

This article explains how to allow access to game consoles on the same network that your Smoothwall On-premise Appliance filters.

  1. Add a Web Filter Policy to Allow the game console’s category (for example, the Xbox category).
  2. Add a Service object for TCP&UDP with the ports outlined in the game console provider’s documentation:
  3. Add a Firewall Rule to Accept traffic for the Service object.
  4. To prevent the game console from spamming requests to a login page, add an Authentication Exception for the game console's category.
  5. Because you can’t install the Smoothwall certificate on game consoles, you need to bypass HTTPS inspection for the game console to work on your network. Add a HTTPS Inspection policy to Do not inspect the game console’s category.
