Smoothwall won’t send an alert email when a user attempts to access a website (domain or URL), search term or video you’ve blocked using Web Filter Policies.
Safeguarding Alerts are sent when a user attempts to access content that we consider harmful, independently of your Web Filter Policies.
- If a user attempts to access information on weapons, Smoothwall generates a Safeguarding Alert, whether or not you have a Web Filter Policy to block the Weapons Category.
- If a user attempts to access a site in a category you have blocked, such as Humour and Distractions, Smoothwall won’t send an alert.
However, you can set up alerts when users attempt to access specific websites or access a specific website a certain number of times. To do this, set up the Web filter URL violations and Web filter violations Alerts.
