Smoothwall won’t send an alert email when a user attempts to access a website (domain or URL), search term or video you’ve blocked using Web Filter Policies.
Safeguarding Alerts are sent when a user attempts to access content that we consider harmful, independently of your Web Filter Policies.
- If a user attempts to access information on weapons, Smoothwall generates a Safeguarding Alert, whether or not you have a Web Filter Policy to block the Weapons Category.
- If a user attempts to access a site in a category you have blocked, such as Humour and Distractions, Smoothwall won’t send an alert.
However, you can set up Smoothwall to send an alert when users attempt to access specific websites or access a specific website a certain number of times. To do this, set up the Web filter URL violations and Web filter violations Alerts.
