This article applies to organisations with a 'Hybrid' setup (both On-Premise Appliance and Cloud), as well as On-Premise only and Cloud only setups.
This article outlines how to delete tenants, and what to do if you are unable to delete a tenant. Tenants are a way to customise your settings for different parts of your organisation, such as schools in your Multi Academy Trust (MAT).
On-Premise Appliance
Warning
You can’t undo deleting a tenant. Smoothwall Support can’t recover deleted tenants.
Before you begin
Go to Services > Authentication > Directories and remove the tenant from any tenant-specific directories. Smoothwall won’t let you delete a tenant that is used for a Directory.
For other areas where the Tenant is used such as Web Filter Policies, the Tenant will show as deleted and the policies will not apply.
Delete a tenant
To delete one tenant:
- Go to System > Administration > Tenants.
- Hover over the tenant you want to delete.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm and select Delete.
To delete multiple tenants:
- Go to System > Administration > Tenants.
- Select the checkboxes next to the tenants.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm and select Delete.
Cloud
You can’t delete a tenant from Cloud. Instead, rename the tenant to make it clear it should not be used. We recommend giving its existing name a prefix like ZDefunct to push it to the bottom of your tenants list.
- Go to Admin Panel > Tenant Management.
- Hover over the tenant you want to edit.
- Select the three vertical dots.
- Select Edit.
- Edit your tenant name.
- Select Save.
