You can create and edit custom DHCP options to send additional information to your DHCP server. For example, your phone service provider tells you to place the phone server in DHCP option 90.

- Refer to your service provider’s documentation for which options to create.
- If you don’t use a Smoothwall Appliance as your DHCP server, refer to your DHCP provider’s documentation.
Add a Custom option
- Go to Services > DHCP > Custom options.
- In the Add a new custom option section, select an Option code from the dropdown.
Note
The codes available range from 60 to 254.
- Codes 59 and below are unavailable because industry-standard services use them.
- Code 252 is not available to create a custom option because DHCP uses it to configure proxy services.
- For Option type, select IP address or Text.
- Enter a Description to name the Custom option.
- (Optional) Enter a descriptive Comment.
- Ensure the Enabled checkbox is selected.
- Select Add.
- Go to Services > DHCP > DHCP Server.
- In the Settings section, select Advanced.
- Find the field named after the Description you set for your Custom option.
- Enter the IP address or text, depending on the Option type you selected.
- Select Save.
Edit a Custom option
- In the Current custom options section, select the checkbox in the Mark column for the Custom option you want to edit.
- Select Edit.
- The Add new custom option section shows the settings for the selected Custom option.
- Edit as needed.
- Select Add.
Delete a Custom option
- In the Current custom options section, select the checkbox in the Mark column for the Custom option you want to delete.
- Select Remove.
