You can change the timeout value and other authentication settings.
- Go to Services > Authentication > Settings.
- Edit the Login timeout (minutes) field to set how long inactive users stay signed in. The default timeout is 10 minutes and applies only to Direct proxy authentication, not other methods such as IDex.
- For the Concurrent login sessions (per user) setting, keep No limit selected. Entering a number limits how many devices a user can sign in to at a time.
Note
Some authentication methods or device types may treat users attempting to use additional devices as Unauthenticated IPs, they may see an error message in the browser or may not be able to sign in with their credentials successfully.
- The Logging level determines how much information is included in System logs. Don't change this unless Smoothwall Support advises you to do so.
- Keep Normalize usernames selected. This converts all variations of username and domain combinations into a consistent format, domain\username, for easier reporting.
- Keep the Users identified by BYOD are subject to firewall rules that make use of groups checkbox selected. If you clear this checkbox, any Firewall rules and Smoothwall access rules set up for specific Groups are ignored for RADIUS authentication.
- If you use the same directory across multiple sites and want to share users’ authentication statuses, for example, in a centrally managed setup, enter the IP addresses of your other Smoothwall Appliances in the IDex Cluster nodes field.
Note
This setting applies to all authentication methods that use a directory, not only IDex.
- Select the Clear IDex Directory button to delete and resync all your IDex directories of authentication information.
- Select the Apply Firewall Rules that use Groups to users identified by IDex checkbox. If you clear this checkbox, any Firewall rules and Smoothwall access rules set up for specific Groups are ignored for IDex authentication.
- Select Save changes.
