You may need to manually reboot or shut down your Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance hardware or Virtual Machine (VM). You can do this from within the Admin UI rather than accessing the console.
- Go to System > Maintenance > Shutdown.
- Select one of the options:
- immediately
- delay action for and select an amount of time between 5 minutes and 1 hour.

at the following time and select a time.
Note
If the scheduled time has passed today, the Appliance will reboot or shut down tomorrow at the selected time.
- Select Reboot or Shutdown.

Reboot:
- You’ll see a loading screen and a ‘System is rebooting.’ message.
- After rebooting, sign in to the Admin UI again.

Shutdown:
- You’ll see a loading screen and a ‘System is shutting down.’ message. Once shut down, your browser will show a ‘This site can’t be reached.’ message.
- Your console will display information about stopping services and then show a blank black screen.
- To start your Smoothwall back up:
- If using hardware, power the appliance back on using the power button if there is one.
- If using a VM, select the VM in your management tool and select to power it on.
- Your browser will refresh and you can sign in to the Admin UI again.

Reboot:
