The Reports > Logs > Firewall page lists the network traffic connections passing through the Smoothwall Firewall.
Before you begin
Consider whether to log data for Firewall rules, as generating these logs can impact the performance of your Smoothwall Appliance. To include these logs:
- Edit your Port Forward policies to select the Log connection checkbox.
- Edit your Firewall rules and Smoothwall access rules to select the Log checkbox.
See current data
To view current log data, select Realtime. To stop, select Pause.
See past data
- Select a date and time. Your Datastore settings determine how much past data is available.
- If needed, filter the logs by selecting an item:
- Inbound interface or Outbound interface allows you to select an interface, such as IPSec, L2TP (not available in Maiden) or SSL VPN.
-
Source IP, Destination IP, Protocol, Source port, or Destination port allows you to enter text into the box.
Tip
- The Source IP address shown is before any source NAT rule was applied.
- The Destination IP address shown is after any port forward rule was applied.
- Rule allows you to select a Firewall rule.
- Action allows you to select Accept, Reject or Drop.
- Select Show columns and select which items to show. Then, select Apply filter to view the logs.
Tip
If either the Inbound or Outbound interfaces are blank, the Smoothwall Firewall blocked the traffic.
Export the data
To export the logs, select Export.
