Configuring the Smoothwall Filter to Allow access to the youHQ platform

Summary

This article will show you how to allow access to the youHQ platform and mobile applications, as well as allowing access to linked resources such as YouTube videos that may otherwise be blocked by your other web filter policies.

Procedure

  1. Create a new Web Filter policy by navigating to 'Guardian > Web Filter > Policy Wizard' and configure the new policy as shown below;

    Who: Everyone *
    What    : youHQ
    Where    : Everywhere *
    When    : Always *
    Action    : Allow

    * Change as necessary
  2. Save this policy and once the page reloads, move it above any blocking policies. This will ensure that the youHQ platform and all linked resources are always accessible.

  3. Ensure you have an HTTPs Decrypt and Inspect policy in place that covers both the 'youHQ' and 'YouTube' categories. If you already have an HTTPs Decrypt and Inspect policy in place that covers 'Everything' then this step may be skipped. Otherwise, navigate to 'Guardian > HTTPS inspection > Policy Wizard' and configure the new policy as shown below;

    Who: Everyone *
    What    : youHQ, YouTube
    Where: Everywhere *
    When: Always *
    Action: Decrypt and Inspect

    * Change as necessary
