To authenticate yourself on Safeguard, you need to use a verification code. This code is generated by an app that you can download to your phone. The code changes every 30 seconds.
To read more about the app, see the Google help topic, Install Google Authenticator.
On your phone, open the App or Play store and search for "Google Authenticator" and download it.
If your DSLs can't use their mobiles to authenticate, you could use, WinAuth. However, please note that we don't support this method and might charge to help solve any issues that you have with this method. Please speak to your IT administrator to set this up for you.
After you have downloaded and installed the app to your phone, you need to retrieve your QR code from Safeguard.
- Log into Safeguard and in the top right, click the My Account icon arrow.
- In the menu list, click Show QR code. Your code is linked to your email login, so you can't use someone else's QR code.
- On your phone, open the App and tap + and then Scan barcode.
- Place your phone camera over the QR code shown on Safeguard. Your Safeguard account is added to the Google Authenticator App and you can refer to this to log in.
If you can't log into Safeguard and have changed your phone, you need to raise a support request so that we can send you your QR code. Therefore, we recommend that you download the app to your phone and scan your QR code when you first log into Safeguard.
