Blocklist and licensing
For the Smoothwall to receive the latest blocklist, an active license has to be enabled on the serial number used for the install. Without an active license, neither blocklist nor system updates can be downloaded and installed. If the license has expired, there will be a notification message displayed at the top of the dashboard page.
Checking blocklist status
When you navigate to the "System » Maintenance » Licenses" menu you will see a blocklist section that shows the current state of the blocklist, the release date and the subscription expiry date.
Each Smoothwall downloads the latest version of the blocklist on a daily basis and additionally calls home every hour to check if there are any interim updates released.
The subscription expiry date applies both to the current licence agreement and the blocklist.
Here it's also possible to manually update the blocklist as well as clear out the blocklist and redownload it. The update button can be used if the latest blocklist, for some reason, has not been retrieved (due to the system being offline during the refresh period for example) and the download button will clear out the currently installed blocklist and reinstall the latest version.
