Incorrect network settings on Hyper-V may lead to network performance issues, such as a new network interface being detected every boot. This in turn will cause a "hardware missing" warning in the user interface after the instance is powered up.
This problem is caused by the network card being set to Dynamic. Every time the Smoothwall Filter and Firewall is switched on, a new mac address is generated for the network card. This means that it will see the network card as being 'new', and will not apply your configured settings to it.
The ideal network adaptor configuration in Hyper-V is as follows:
Network Adaptor Type; Network Adaptor (Do not use Legacy)
Mac Address Assignment:
- Static
- Enable Spoofing
