Allow access to websites that don’t use port 80 or 443

Some websites don't use the standard ports 80 or 443 and instead connect through a non-standard port. Your users may see a message that the proxy server is refusing connections.= when filtering using Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance.

You can identify the port from the URL, for example: http://www.domain.com:4000

To allow users to connect to these sites:

  1. Go to Web Proxy > Web Proxy > Settings.
  2. Add the port numbers to the Allow access to web servers on these additional ports field.
  3. Select Save and restart.
