Summary
This article shows you how to apply the 'Enforce Google Image Licencing' content modification policy so that only images licensed under the Creative Commons license are shown when searching Google Images.
Problem
Sometimes inappropriate images still shown up on Google Image search, even when SafeSearch has been enforced. Although it is possible to identify and block individual images, you can also restrict results so that only images licensed under the Creative Commons license are shown, which helps to reduce inappropriate images from appearing.
Solution
- Ensure you have an HTTPS Decrypt and Inspect policy in place which covers the 'Web Search' category as a bare minimum. See our help topic on Creating HTTPS inspection policies for more information.
- Create a content modification policy with the following settings. See out help topic on Creating content modification policies for more information
Who: Everyone *
What: Google Search
Where Everywhere *
Action: Apply Enforce Google Image Licensing
* Change as appropriate
Note that it may take a few minutes for the changes to take effect, and you may need to restart your browser. Once the policy is active, you should see the Creative Commons Licenses setting activated, as shown in the image below:
