Blocking Opera Mini browsers' Turbo mode

The Opera Mini browser contains a Turbo mode, which makes use of proxy technology to speed up browsing. Turbo mode enables a proxy within the Opera Mini browser which bypasses your proxy server and so bypasses the Smoothwall web filter. It can operate in HTTP mode or via port 1080.

Procedure

1. Block the Web Proxies category (the What) in Guardian, see Creating web filter policies.
2. Outbound TCP port 1080 is blocked on your firewall's outgoing port rules.
