The iOS iTunes Store app connects to multiple domains, which Apple sometimes changes. The Smoothwall iTunes category contains these domains but if you find that the app no longer works through your Smoothwall Filter and Firewall, let us know through our blocklist feedback form and we will check if Apply have changed the domains. Blocklist Feedback Form.
After we have updated the blocklist you can update your Smoothwall filter by refreshing the blocklist in your Smoothwall Filter, see Viewing and managing licenses and subscriptions.
To configure your Smoothwall Filter to allow access, you should create a policy for the iTunes category, and exclude it from authentication for the relevant groups.
Procedure
- Add the following categories to authentication exceptions, see Creating authentication exceptions:
- SSL/CRL
- Software Updates
- Authentication Exceptions
- iTunes
-
Create a web filter policy with the following:
- Who: "Everyone, or the relevant user or groups to apply this policy to."
- What: "Authentication Exceptions, SSL/CRL, Software Updates, iTunes"
- Where: "Everywhere, or the relevant location to apply this policy to."
- When: "Always, or the relevant time slot to apply this policy to."
- Action: "Allow"
- Move the newly created policy above any block or blanket block policy in place for the Unauthenticated IPs group in the Web filter policies table.
If you did not have Unauthenticated IPs allowed to use the web proxy prior to migrating, you might have this group in a policy folder in position 2 in the table, by default.
