Check which users have visited a specific URL

This article applies to our On-Premise Appliance Filter and Firewall product only, not to Cloud.

 

Create a report of usernames that have accessed a specific URL by creating a Custom Report and configuring the fields as follows:

  1. For Section, select Guardian3 > User activity and select Add.
  2. Set the Display top field to the number of users to include (maximum 500). Users will be listed with the highest hits at the top.
  3. To change to a different quantifier, change the Units field from Hits to Bandwidth or Time spent.
  4. Go to the Options tab, and select Advanced.
  5. In the URL field above the Exclude results section, enter the URL.

    Tip

    Use a regular expression, such as ^(.*\.)youtube.com/watch\?v=.* to match specific patterns.

  6. In the URL Filtering section at the bottom of the page, select both checkboxes:
    • Allow domain pattern matching: Includes sites accessed with or without www. or sub-domains.
    • Allow parameter pattern matching: Includes URL parameters that follow ?, such as help.smoothwall.net/Default.htm?inpage=yes.
  7. Finish configuring your report, and select Create report.
