If you want to see how often users visit a whole domain, group subdomains and top-level domains (TLDs) in your Custom Reports. By default, Custom Reports treat subdomains and TLDs as separate sites. For example, reports show www.example.co.uk and www.example.com separately.
Important
You can’t use the drill-down or feed-forward reporting features when grouping domains. The report combines the domains only for that specific instance without changing the underlying data.
- Create a custom report or edit an existing report.
- From the Available sections box, open the Guardian3 folder.
- Select Domain activity and select Add to add it to the Included sections box.
- Select the Options tab.
- Select Advanced and go to the URL parsing section.
- Select the Root domain checkbox to group subdomains under one domain. For example, treat "api.sample.com", "images.sample.com" and "users.sample.com" as "sample.com".
- Select the Remove CC/TLD (.com, .co.uk) checkbox to group TLDs. For example, treat "sample.com" and "sample.co.uk" as "sample".
- Select the Group domains together by application checkbox to show the following domains as YouTube:
- *.youtube.*
- *.ytimg.*
- *.youtube-nocookie.*
- *.googlevideo.*
- *.ggpht.*
- Add any other relevant sections, options and filters, then generate the report.
