You may want to see how many times a whole domain has been visited, but your Custom Report keeps treating subdomains as separate sites. For example, reporting on www.example.co.uk and www.example.com separately. To resolve this, you can combine the subdomains.
Important
Combining subdomains means you cannot use the drill-down or feed-forward reporting features. The report combines the domains only for that specific instance; it does not change the underlying reporting data.
- Create a custom report.
- From the Available sections box, open the Guardian3 folder.
- Select Domain activity and select Add to add it to the Included sections box.
- Select the Options tab from the new section that appears at the bottom of the page.
- Select Advanced.
- Move to the URL parsing section.
- Select the Root domain checkbox if the site uses different subdomains such as "api.sample.com", "images.sample.com", and "users.sample.com". This will treat all of the subdomains as "sample.com".
- Select the Remove CC/TLD (.com, .co.uk) checkbox if the site uses different top-level domains (TLDs) such as "sample.com", and "sample.co.uk". This will treat both domains as "sample".
- Select both checkboxes to treat "images.sample.com", "apis.sample.com", "sample.co.uk" and "images.sample.co.uk" as "sample".
- Add any other relevant sections, options, and filters to the report.
- Scroll back to the top of the page and select Create report.
