How to resolve display issues for the Smoothwall administration UI in the Chrome browser.
Google released version 55 of the Chrome browser on 1st December 2016 see https://googlechromereleases.blogspot.co.uk/.
If you're using Chrome browser version 55, the administration user interface doesn't display properly, labels in particular are misaligned to the far right of the UI:
(Old branding UI kept to show the old issue.)
This is a bug known to Google's Chromium team, who have been working on this issue. Due to the nature of the bug, certain HTML tags within the stylesheet used to display the Smoothwall administration UI are incorrectly read by the Chrome browser. During our own tests, we have seen labels in wrong positions; upon a browser resize the labels either correct themselves, or choose another completely random place in the UI.
As previously stated, this only affects browsers running Chrome 55, but affects all versions of Smoothwall release.
The Smoothwall Testing Team have run extensive tests on Chrome version 56, and this displays everything correctly. See https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1086915.
Until version 56 of the Chrome browser is available to you, we recommend you use a different browser to administer your Smoothwall appliance.
For a detailed description of those supported browsers, see our knowledge base article: .
Note: The user portal, and block pages used by your Smoothwall solution are unaffected by this issue.
