Allow access to Minecraft

You can allow users access to play Minecraft without allowing access to all online games or computer games.

Add a Web Filter Policy for the Minecraft Category, with Allow as the Action.

You can allow users to connect to external servers when using Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance as your Firewall.

  Note

These instructions apply if using On-Premise Appliance as your Firewall. If using another provider, refer to their documentation for allowing traffic over ports.

  1. Add Service objects:
    • The first with TCP as the Protocol and enter 25565 for the Port.
    • The second with UDP as the Protocol and enter 19132 for the Port.
    • If using iOS devices, add a third with TCP as the Protocol and enter the range 16384-16472 for the Port.
  2. Add a Firewall Rule using these Service objects, with Accept as the Action.
