There is a content modification filter which allows the Hudl™ sports application to work effectively via the Smoothwall.
Smoothwalls running a release or update earlier than Inverness will find the Hudl app is not working, or only working partially. Some of the video content will not play.
Note: Smoothwalls running the Inverness Castle Release or later do not need to apply the solution below as this is now provided as standard.

- Create a new category in Guardian > Policy objects > Categories. The category should be named Hudl and contain a single Domain/URL entry of:

- Create a new content modification in Guardian > Content modification > Content modifications. The new content modification should be named Remove encoding and should contain the following entry under the heading Request header modifications:

Tip: You may need to turn on Advanced View for this to work. To do this, access your Smoothwall via an SSH session, and run the command:
echo 1 > /modules/guardian3/settings/ui/blocklist/advancedRefresh your administration UI view to see the changes.
- Create a new content modification policy in Guardian > Content modification > Policy wizard. The created policy should look like:
- Who: Everyone
- What: Hudl
- Where: Everywhere
- Action: Apply ‘Remove encoding’
