This article applies to our On-Premise Appliance Filter and Firewall product only, not to Cloud.
This article details how to find out when your Certificate Authorities (CAs) and certificates for services expire so that service is not interrupted.
Do we get a warning?
When the On-Premise Appliance detects the system certificate responsible for HTTPS Inspection services will expire within 30 days, this warning message will appear on every page: ‘Warning: The Guardian CA certificate will expire in X days.’
Select the button in the warning to go to System > Certificates > Certificates for services where you can manage your certificates.
The warning message will remain until the morning after you renew your CA.
How can I check the Expiry date?
You can check when your CA will expire manually:
- Go to System > Certificates > Certificates for services.
- Hover over the CA and select Details.
- Note the Expires On field for the expiry date - you must renew your CA before that date.
Does Smoothwall send us an alert?
You can set up an alert for when your certificates used for VPNs expire, but not when your certificates for services expire.
