Custom Content Modifications

Content Modification allows you to grant access to specific websites while blocking certain content types on the pages your users visit. Create a Custom Content Modification only if existing Content Modifications don’t suit your needs and you know the content to block.

  Note

Custom Content Modifications can’t be set up in Cloud Filter and are not supported by our Agents and Extensions.

Get to the Custom Content Modification management page

  1. Go to Guardian > Content modifications > Policy Wizard.
  2. Expand the Action section.
  3. Select Create a new content modification. The page opens in a new tab.

Add a Custom Content Modification

  1. Enter a Name.
  2. (Optional) Enter a Comment.
  3. If you have a multi-tenant setup, you’ll see the Tenant field:
    1. Select All to apply the Content Modification when used in a Content Modification Policy to all tenants.
    2. Select a tenant to have the Content Modification when used in a Content Modification Policy only apply to that tenant.
  4. Enter any HTTP Headers to the Request headers to override field in a comma-separated list.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Close the tab and return to your original tab. You can now use this Content Modification in a Content Modification Policy.

Edit or delete a Custom Content Modification

  Important

Edit or delete any Content Modification Policies to remove the Custom Content Modification you want to delete. If you don’t, you’ll see an error: ‘Validation failed because a contentmod cannot be removed when it is still in use.’

  1. Find the Content Modification in the Content modifications table.
    • To delete, select the X icon.
    • To edit:
      1. Select the pencil icon.
      2. Edit the configuration in the Manage content modifications section.
      3. Select Save.
  2. Close the tab and return to your original tab.
