IDex Client was used to tunnel web browsing traffic from a client device to Smoothwall On-Premise filtering. As of 16th October 2024, Smoothwall does not support IDex Client, which means:
- We no longer provide documentation, training or support with setting up or managing IDex Client.
- We can’t guarantee IDex Client will continue to work if you already have it set up, and we will not fix any issues you may encounter.
Note
IDex Agent, IDex Cluster and IDex Directory are still available and supported for all customers on all releases.
If your organisation uses IDex Client, you’ll need to take action.
You can temporarily continue using IDex Client if you can’t change over immediately. However IDex Client is not available in Maiden, so you must make the change before moving to Maiden.
Devices that stay on-site
Contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss changing to a different Authentication Method.
You can select any Terminal services compatibility mode option, but we recommend Kerberos (Terminal services compatibility mode).
Devices taken off-site
Contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss moving to Cloud Filter.
Cloud Filter is the cloud equivalent of the Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance Filter. It offers improved reliability, simpler installation and authentication, and removes single points of failure.
