Record Manager Safeguarding Training Course Guide

This article is for all school staff.

Record Manager’s Safeguarding Training Course introduces you to all aspects of safeguarding responsibility. All school staff are encouraged to complete the Safeguarding Training to learn about their responsibilities in ensuring students’ safety and wellbeing.

If you’re taking this course for the first time, it may take you up to a few hours to complete. As a refresher, the course can take up to one hour.

Step 1: Access the course

  1. Sign in to the Record Manager at https://app.safeguard.software/dashboard.asp.
  2. Select Training on the left.
  3. Under My Training, select the current course (e.g. “2024/25 Course”).
  4. Select START COURSE on the right. The course will start immediately.

Step 2: Complete the course

  1. Read the training content on the right, then select CONTINUE to progress to the next topic.
  2. The panel on the left lets you control your progress:
    1. The progression bar shows your training progress.
    2. Check marks appear for the topics you’ve completed. You can revisit a topic by selecting it.
    3. Hide or unhide the progress pane by selecting the three lines at the top left of the main panel.

  1. Some topics require you to read legislations or regulations from external sites. Select the link to read the topic. If your browser does not open the external link, ensure it allows pop-ups or opening links on new tabs and windows.

  1. Some topics include knowledge checks. This is different from the quiz you must complete at the end of the course. Select your answer, then select SUBMIT.

    Note: Knowledge check questions do not count against your final assessment score.

Step 3: Pass the quiz

You must pass the 10-question quiz to receive your training completion certificate. The quiz combines multiple choice, true or false, and “select all that apply” questions. You must answer at least eight (8) questions correctly.

To take the quiz:

  1. Select Quiz from the table of contents. If you’re on the last page of the training content, select CONTINUE.
  2. On the Quiz landing page, select Start Quiz.
  3. Answer each question, then select SUBMIT.
  4. You'll get either a Correct or an Incorrect feedback for each question you’ve answered. Select NEXT to move to the next question.
  5. At the end of the quiz, the system will check how many questions you answered correctly.
    • You will receive a prompt if you passed the assessment. Select Continue to view or to download your certificate.

    • If you did not pass, your mark will appear on the screen. Select TAKE AGAIN to retake the quiz. You can retake the quiz as many times as necessary to pass.
