This article applies to the Leeds Release and Prior. This functionality is not available on Maiden and later Releases.
Typically, the Smoothwall acts as the RADIUS server, but acts as the client when it needs to forward RADIUS accounting data to upstream servers, such as, a billing system, or a captive User Portal. This can also be other Smoothwall nodes in a centrally managed solution.
If the Smoothwall is to forward RADIUS accounting requests to an additional server, you must configure the servers that receives the RADIUS accounting packets.
Group information can't be synchronized between the Smoothwall and the RADIUS server as per the other supported directory servers. Instead, you must enter the group names into the Smoothwall manually as configured for the Group_Attribute parameter in your RADIUS server.
Procedure
- On the SERVICES menu, under the Authentication submenu, click Directories.
- Click Add new directory.
- In the Add new directory dialog box, select RADIUS Accounting, enter a descriptive Comment of the connection and click Add.
