Sections for Firewall and Smoothwall access rules

This article applies only to On-Premise Appliance, not to our Cloud products.

Use sections to organise Firewall rules or Smoothwall access rules.

By default, you’ll see two sections:

  • Default firewall rules or Default access rules
  • Catch-all section

Add a section

  1. To add a section:
    • At the top of the page, select Add section.
    • Hover over an existing section and select Add section. Select Above this section or Below this section (only available when the section is not the Catch-all section). 
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. Select Save changes.

Edit a section

  Note

You can’t move or rename the Catch-all section.

Smoothwall applies rules in order of priority, from top to bottom. To reorder sections:

  1. Drag a section to a new position.
  2. Select Save.

To rename a section:

  1. Hover over the section.
  2. Select Rename section.
  3. Edit the Name.
  4. Select Save changes.

Delete a section

  Important

  • Deleting a section also deletes all rules within that section.
  • You can’t delete the Catch-all section.

To delete a section:

  1. Hover over the section name.
  2. Select Delete.
  3. Select Delete again.
