You can quickly block users from accessing the web for entire locations using Location Blocking when you are filtering using the Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance.
- Go to Guardian > Web filter > Location blocking.
- If you have one or more Locations, select Allow or Block for each Location. If you haven’t set up any locations, select Create a new location.
- Allow: By default, access to the web for this location is allowed. It then passes through to the Smoothwall On-Premise Appliance, where filtering policies determine whether access is allowed or blocked. Even if you allow access to traffic for the location from here, sites may still be blocked by other web filtering policies, such as our dynamic content filtering or your Web Filter policies.
- Block: Select this option to block web access for this location before Web Filter policies are applied. This means if you block access for a location from here, access is blocked, even if it would otherwise be allowed by your Web Filter policies.
- Select Save to apply any changes.
To remove the block, select Allow for the location and select Save.
